The World’s Biggest Offshore Windfarm Approved

Regeneris Assists DONG Energy with Successful Planning Permission

New Windfarm Will Host 300 Turbines Across an Area Five Times the Size of Hull

Regeneris has supported DONG Energy in the preparation of the successful planning application for the world’s biggest multibillion-pound wind farm off the coast of North Lincolnshire. (The Hornsea Project Two Offshore Wind Farm). The windfarm will host 300 turbines across an area of more than 480 square kilometres in the North Sea.

Lasting Economic Benefits for the UK

The Hornsea Project Two Offshore Wind Farm is a multi-billion-pound investment with potential to create substantial and lasting economic benefits in Humberside and the UK more widely.  DONG Energy is pledging to invest £6bn in the UK and create more than 2,500 jobs in construction, operation and maintenance. DONG Energy is expected to deliver 1,800MW of low-CO2 electricity to 1.8 million UK homes.

Regeneris led the socio-economic impact assessment aspects of the planning application for the project. We provided an objective assessment of the potential employment and wealth generation effects, working with DONG Energy to develop approaches maximising the local economic benefits of the scheme. Regeneris has previously assisted DONG energy in achieving planning permission for Hornsea Project One.

Associate Director, Kate Downes acted as an Expert Witness and gave evidence at the Planning Inspectorate’s Hearings in which the application and underpinning evidence was examined and tested.

Regeneris has recently started working on the planning application for Hornsea Project Three.
