The Borderlands Inclusive Growth Initiative is a long-term partnership involving five local authorities working together to deliver sustainable growth and redistribute across the England Scotland border. Regeneris has just been appointed to help develop the Inclusive Growth Deal and a series of supporting business cases. Our team will be working with local councils and organisations to make the case for infrastructure, skills, business growth, place-making, energy, and tourism schemes. We will also be helping to draft the over-arching Deal document which will provide a strong strategic narrative to present a compelling case for investment.
This will be the largest rural Growth Deal and the first to span the border between England and Scotland. The Borderlands area covers 9,000 square miles (10% of the UK land mass) and is home to around 1 million people. The area has strategically important growth potential, provides a vital north-south connection and is an important destination for visitors and investment.
Lauren Newby, Associate Director at Regeneris and project manager said,
“The Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal represents a transformational opportunity to create momentum and a shared sense of purpose amongst stakeholders either side of the border to realise growth potential. Regeneris is pleased to be part of this ground-breaking opportunity and to work collaboratively with partners to broker a deal which will facilitate a step change in the fortunes of the Borderlands economy”.
